Heartsaver® First Aid is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. Students learn duties and responsibilities of first aid rescuers; first aid actions for medical emergencies, including severe choking, heart attack, and stroke; and skills for handling injury and environmental emergencies, including external bleeding, broken bones and sprains, and bites and stings.
Designed to meet OSHA regulations, this course covers first aid basics, consisting of the most common life-threatening emergencies, how to recognize them, how to call for help, and how to perform lifesaving skills. This course also includes a review of the OSHA Bloodbourne Pathogen requirements.
This course is a step beyond the basic Heartsaver CPR course and is recommended for all laymen including parents, babysitters, daycare providers, pilots, fitness instructors, warehouse workers, office staff, lifeguards, teachers, church staff, safety committee staff, or most anyone who is not a health care provider.
